'Cure for Mito' Auction and Dinner

Please join us for the 7th annual "Cure for Mito" auction and dinner on Friday, September 11, 2009 at Willows Lodge in Woodinville, Washington. This very special magical evening of dreams will include a 4-course culinary feast prepared by Willow's Executive Chef Bobby Moore along with a selection of fine northwest wines from JM Cellars. Following this fabulous culinary experience, the evening will end with live music provided by local artists and dancing. There will also be raffles, a live auction and an opportunity to raise your paddle to "Give Kids the Energy to Dream." For additional information please contact Jill Herczog at j.herczog@verizon.net.

Last year on Saturday, September 13th, the Mitochondrial Research Guild hosted its 6th annual 'Cure for Mito' Auction and Dinner at the majestic and very private Camp Korey, formally known as the Nestle Training Center in Carnation, Washington. This special evening at this historic 817-acre facility, originally the Carnation Farm, was enjoyed by over 225 guests on what was truly a magical evening that was made perfect by the summer like weather, spectacular views and a full moon raising up over the Snoqualmie Valley.

The evening began with hors d'oeuvres and cocktails along with a silent auction and entertainment and was followed by our acclaimed four-course dinner that was jointly prepared by chefs from Lisa Dupar's Catering and Willows Lodge and MTM Luxury Hotels, with accompanying wines provided by JM Cellars. The live auction was conducted by none other than auctioneer April Brown and the evening ended with dancing to the highly popular tunes from the Robert Vaughn Band.

Thanks to the generous support of our auction attendees, donors and sponsors, the guild raised over $185,000 at the event, bringing our total proceeds raised over the past 6 years to over $1 million for Seattle Children's! We were very pleased to meet this significant milestone and we are grateful to all of our supporters over the last few years that have made this all possible. Please check back with us in January for information on next year's event to be held on Friday, September 11, 2009.

We would like to give special thanks to AVW-TELAV and The Freeman Company for turning the space into something truly spectacular and we would like to thank Mike Hipple Photography and Finn Garaas for their amazing talent in capturing all the special moments of the evening.
