Past Events

The Mitochondrial Research Guild participates in many events throughout the year to raise awareness about mitochondrial disease.

Past events that the guild has been involved with include:

Katelyn's walkathon took place on June 11 at Magnuson Park in Seattle. The event helped raise over $6,000 for the Mhyre family to help with some of Katelyn's medical expenses. As Katelyn's mom, Jennifer said "The financial support from the walk is obviously huge, but equally as huge was the emotional support that we felt on the day of Katelyn's walk. To think about that day brings Andrew and I so much joy, and the best word we can use to describe how we felt was PROUD. We were proud to be Katelyn's parents, proud of her strength and resilience, proud of her sweet nature and how she inspires so much good in the world. It has been a long, difficult journey to come to terms with Katelyn's disease, and there are many times where it would be easy to just be sad, angry, and feel alone. We have resolved to find a way to enjoy each day that Katelyn is with us.

Cal's run took place on April 17th in Issaquah and it was a huge success, raising over $11,000 to help the Bertsch family with Cal's medical expenses.
